The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

How we get the personal information and why we have it

All of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by our members.  We use this information to enable us to:
  • Maintain our membership information
  • Claim Gift Aid on your membership subscriptions
  • Meet your dietary needs if you join our summer tour
  • Provide relevant medical information to medical professionals should you be taken ill
  • Provide publicity for Furness Music Centre, via its website and Facebook page and other platforms
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
  • We have a contractual obligation to provide a limited amount of personal data related to our younger members to Cumbria Music Hub as a condition of the grant we receive from them, this comprises the names, age range and school attended of our younger members
  • We have a legitimate interest, for example:
  • We may use some of your personal data to enable us to claim Gift Aid on your membership subscriptions
  • We may publish photographs and videos of our performances to attract new members.  Photos and videos that are published will not include any information that would enable an individual member to be identified

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored in our website and on a SharePoint site provided by Microsoft.  Your photograph or a video containing your image could be published via our website or using another publicly accessible service, such as Facebook or YouTube.  We will not publish any information that can identify you from a photograph or video on any publicly accessible service.

We keep your contact information, dietary preferences and relevant medical details should you choose to provide them while you are an active member of Furness Music Centre. If you cease to be an active member of Furness Music Centre we will securely delete your personal data from our website.

However, we are required by HMRC to retain personal data that forms part of our Gift Aid claims for a period of six years, after which they will be securely deleted.

 

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:
  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
